Is this a domestic or international route? It sounds like you already have enough miles for a roundtrip for one passenger, and a one-way for the other. Is this a route where a one-way cash ticket is reasonably priced?

Edited to add: Do you already hold the Delta Amex card, which affords a 15% discount on Sky Miles redemptions? If not, and if you are credit-worthy, getting that card now might make sense. 😉
