At least on BOS-EDI, D1 prices for next year have been outrageous. Are you looking at Comfort+ or Premium Select? C+ is just a regular economy seat with more legroom, but PS would have more recline/footrests/etc and could be a good alternative to booking D1 if you do not want to sit in the main cabin.
