Holiday Inn Düsseldorf Tolouser Allee
Holiday Inn Düsseldorf Toulouser Allee
What is your Priority Club status?
Ambassador Diamond
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
In general yes.
I stayed just one night as the hotel was cheaper than the Holiday Inn Express Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof. The hotel is located a Toulouser Allee which have been the main cargo train tracks till the beginning of the new century. Nearest stop is “Wehrhahn” served by S-Bahn and several tram lines. If offers a good connection to public transportation and downtown Düsseldorf (Heinrich-Heine-Alle) is only a short three stop ride by tram / underground. In front of the hotel are the main train lines connection Düsseldorf and Duisburg and if you want a quieter room take one of the garden side (which is not very bright as it faces the high-rise apartment building)
I booked a Standard Room on an flexible rate. The room was to an Executive Room the day before.
A small fitness center is available on the first floor. Breakfast is served from 06:30 to 10:00 on weekdays and till 11:00 on weekends on the first floor
The lobby is medium sized. There is a PC terminal next to the entrance on the left side. The check in desk are on the right side.
I skipped breakfast (took the points which as usual never posted) as it was too late as I needed to be in my office at 06:00.
Check In was quick with not waiting time on boxing day. Two agents were available. Status was recognized and it was mentioned that I received an upgrade and was asked of my choice as Diamond Amenity.
Had dinner in the restaurant. The burger was okay, so the meat a bit dry. But price was okay. Service was okay, but the restaurant quite busy and the only member of staff quite busy.
Staff helped with redeeming my f&b award.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Standard and received Executive Room facing the rear, i.e. not the train tracks.
How are the rooms?
The hotel is not that old and the rooms show a little bit of wear, but nothing serious. In general the rooms are very small.
My room was located on the fourth floor opposite the elevator. I had requested a room away from the elevator but decided to not change rooms. Right next to the entrance was the small bathroom with shower, sink and toilet. Storage space next to the sink was okay. The Hairdryer was placed in the closet. Mirror was not heated. Bathrobe and slippers were not provided. Soap and lotion were wall mounted larger bottles (Dove)
Iron and ironing board and safe were placed in the closet.
There was a large bed with two bedside tables and reading lamp on both sides. A chair with a lamp was located in front of the windows. Windows could be opened. My room was facing the back, which was in regard to noise okay, but the appartement building is very close.
Desk with two outlets was placed at the window. Not USB outlets were available.
Minibar was free of charge (coke, beer, juice and sparkling water). Coffee and tea facilities were also available. A large bottle of still water was placed on the desk
Water pressure of the shower was okay. A glass door which really closes and thus no flooding of the bathroom. A big mirror was also available but not heated. Shower gel, shampoo and lotion were wall mounted (Dove). Two small, medium and large towels were provided.
The room had blinds which really darkens the room. Windows could be opened, but there could be some minor noise from the entrance of the apartment building. The room facing the back are usually more quiet.
The advanced rate was 94 EUR / night.
How is the exec. lounge?
N/A
What was good and what was bad?
Good
Rooms have real desk
Good connection to public transport
Windows could be opened
Staff is friendly and helpful
Neutral
keycard needed for power and room
room is very small
Bad
Lack of USB Ports
Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
The location is good. The rooms are small, but okay if you do not want to spend much time in the hotel. Main Station, airport and downtown Düsseldorf are easy to reach. Staff is friendly.
Rooms are well maintained. The upgrade to a room with a free minibar as part of the upgrade is nice. Unfortunately rates are often above 100 EUR and thus the HIX Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof is my preferred hotel (but this is a personal choice).
I will return and actually this was a returning stay.
