We are particularly sensitive to location, as we would prefer to walk out the front gate of the property to stroll around Ubud if possible. We've stayed at FS Sayan in the past as a couple, but they don't seem to have a reasonable room type that makes sense on this stay--and given the panoply of luxury choices, we are loathe to return to the same property. Amandari seems too remote, as does Soori. The Mandapa seems like it could meet our needs, but I tend to find RC under-delivers (and, in the case of this particular property, has a seemingly absurd price point). (On the topic of chains, we're not too snobbish for Alila in general, but the Alila Ubud seems remote and has very mixed reviews.). Are Viceroy or Tanah Gajah in the same league? They both have 2-bedroom villias at reasonable rates. COMO Shambhala does as well, but the "health" vibes suggest we should steer clear with our kids. The Cappella seems interesting, but perhaps a little too quirky for a family stay?
Capella is very well done but has A LOT of stairs. The tents can fit 3 adults but not sure about 2+2. There's also a Family Lodge that you might want to look into. This property is nice because each tent has their own splash pools.
To be honest, all the Ubud luxury properties are remote and that's by design. To have space and privacy.
