I echo Taupo's comments - BP is great for sleeping. However, on a short haul international flight I always book PE. PE has good food (the service is also faster the the drawn out BP service) and seats are comfortable. I would only book BP if the price point was negligible between the two cabins or if I was in need of a few extra status points.

From experience - I would not waste an upgrade from PE to BP on a short haul flight either.
