Quick notes

- Great Wall Hotel (formerly Sheraton): I liked it because it felt very old school China. It's the first joint venture hotel. However others would probably say it's old and dated . I should have booked a suite
- Hilton Beijing (sorry not Marriott): This hotel was quite nice. However I don't have Hilton status anymore so didn't commit to a longer stay.
- Westin Beijing Chaoyang: I don't really like this hotel. The Hilton is nicer. My first stay I got no upgrade, and the second stay I had an upgraded room in the app (Renewal Room) and they said I had an upgrade at check in but upon arriving at the room it was a normal room (Premier). The breakfast is decent and the lounge is also fine. The HVAC smells really weird though which was true in two different rooms.
- Marriott Beijing Northeast: This was generally cheaper than the Westin except for one day so I went back to the Westin. I got a Studio Suite (junior) which was fine. The breakfast and lounge are comparable to the Westin, except for this hotel has no views. So if that's important to you I would look elsewhere.

I was going to try the JW/Ritz but ran out of time. I stayed at the St Regis several years ago and liked it but it's a bit too far away. Of the above I would definitely take the Hilton if I had status. Otherwise I would probably go to the Marriott NE because I don't care much about views.
