Flew DCA-JFK-AMS-JFK-DCA and after 2 weeks without any points posting I submitted an online points request. The request was "rejected" and the reason listed was "request not approved". I called and they credited the flights right away, but I only got 1 point for the entire trip. I paid $480 for the round-trip as a Blue Basic fare. He said this was calculated correctly because the base fare was only $1. When I look at the receipt the base fare was indeed only $1, but the "carrier imposed fee" was over $300. He insisted the carrier imposed fee should not be included when awarding points.
Is this a clever way for JetBlue to avoid giving out points by shifting their revenue almost entirely from "base fare" to "carrier imposed surcharge" and only awarding 1 point? Or was he incorrect and points should be awarded on the fee portion as well?
