Wow! You must value Plat way more than I do. I had to think long and hard about spending 10K miles to grab two additional PQFs (#35 & 36) for Plat. Had it not been for the Mrs being able to join me on a mini vacation, I'm not sure if I would have done it.

I need the E+ seats for my family. If I look at our travel pattern as a group and what I'd pay for their E+ seats over a year, it is more than what I would spend on this PQD run. Between that and the PlusPoints (which I complained bitterly about never being able to use as 1K), have managed to use when it really mattered this year as Plat. So I am willing to make the investment, as is my family.
Whether I pay for it now or pay for it later, I'm still paying for it, whether it's now in one lump or later in smaller increments. At least with this approach I'll be a little higher on the upgrade list and to have my call answered...
