I used the new scanner at SFO G Gates security as was connecting to NZ7. Went through like a breeze. I always have lots of wires with me. The slowest part was LHT T2 where they had a trainee on the screen who was being very very thorough. Other staff apologised, but they have to train sometime - 7am on Boxing Day is as good a time as any. Personally I find LHR security perfectly fine 90% of the time.
