The rather large volume of December staycationers may be a factor. Can literally visualize the brief FDAs were given to kick the can down the road on anything that may resemble an upgrade query.
Still, you offered to pay... so this reaction on their part makes Zero sense.
If this is a full house, then so was the Overlook Hotel when the Torrances checked in!
