Stayed in Hilton Yokohama for one night while coming from Kyoto and before flight back home from Haneda.
The walk from the JR station was pretty easy with bags going through the station, over the bridge to the Nissan HQ and from there on a skywalk all the way to the Anpanman Children's museum where there is an elevator down to street level and then just the sidewalk around the corner of the museum to the K-Arena where the Hilton is. There was a concert in the K-Arena on that day but that didn't seem to make the Hilton crowded at all.
The lobby is upstairs with the elevator and when arriving they queried if we would like to check-in in the Executive Lounge which was my choice as we arrived a bit late and the evening happy hour had already started. In the lounge they have two check-in desk and they suggested that we could sit to a table, take some snacks and drinks while waiting for the check-in This is how it should be done in every hotel which has a lounge.
As a Diamond the default upgrade is underwhelming one class upgrade only from Deluxe room to a Deluxe High Floor. After I suggested that I would prefer a Premium High Floor room which was still available for sale they insisted that they could upgrade us only to the base Premium room in the lower levels by their policy. I noted my disappointment in very a polite manner as this was not like asking for a Suite or anything special and after a while the Executive Lounge host came back (probably after talking to a manager) with room keys to a Premium High Floor room mentioning that this was one time exception. So keep you expectations low as they seem to be very stingy with the upgrades.
There is outdoor terrace which was now closed but probably very nice in the summer.
The room was OK with all the amenities one could expect for such a hotel and a very stylish bathroom with separate shower and tub.
Returning to the lounge the drink selection was pretty good with wines been poured, liquors including local gin and multiple beers. The food selection was very poor like everyone have stated before. Some bread, slices of ham which usually ran out, cheese cubes, one salad and then snacks and donuts. The service was extremely polite though and to our luck the lounge wasn't too full.
The breakfast was great as usually in full service hotels in Japan. Orange juice isn't fresh squeezed though nor coffee barista made but I don't know if those are to be found in any other hotels in Japan either.
I visited briefly also the breakfast in the Executive Lounge and it seemed to have a very good selection.
The points did not post in 8-10 days and when requesting them through the form on the Hilton web site the customer service contacted to request the folio as they weren't able to see the stay value otherwise. So they don't seem to be fully integrated yet to the Hilton's systems.
So my verdict...
With a price of about 23000JPY I was a bit disappointed and was expecting more from a newly opened hotel. The hotel looks great with luxurious design which would make it a Conrad in many other countries. Location was ok pretty near the JR station and I liked the views of Yokohama. The stingy upgrade policy and poor food selection in the Executive lounge and the lack of any spa facilities were my largest turnoffs. In any case the hotels in Tokyo would have cost almost double and Yokohama was in the way to the airport so all in all it was a good stay.
