If you have Nexus/Global Entry, you can shave 30 minutes off so it can be done in 90 minutes but without...2 hours is sensible.
Can pretty much guarantee that someone who has never been to North America doesn't have Nexus or Global Entry. (First of all, why would they have bothered, and second of all, the only way to enrol is via an interview in the US or Canada or upon US arrival [whether in the US or at a US preclearance facility]. They could in principle [depending on citizenship] be pre-approved and able to complete enrolment while clearing US Immigration at YVR, but then they'd need to allow more time, not less.)
Note that for someone who hasn't been to North America, the lack of Canadian exit passport check might be surprising (since most countries outside of North America do some sort of exit passport control), but it is replaced with the more onerous US entry Immigration/Customs being handled in Vancouver.
