I'm YVR based and I know that tt that time of day the line up to clear security on the US side can be loooooong. I wouldn't dream of arriving at the airport less than 2 hours prior unless you have some means to shortcut the security line.

If you have Nexus/Global Entry, you can shave 30 minutes off so it can be done in 90 minutes but without...2 hours is sensible.
