Our insurance does not cover this nor the credit card provider can do anything. We would not ask for refund, voucher would be absolutely fine as we do not even have clue when we would fly so rebooking is not an option actually. Anybody with experience getting voucher in situations similar to this one? That is one thing where platinum effect could come handy.
Sorry to hear about your family's emergency. I hope that things will pass with as little complications as possible.

I don't have direct experience with a situation like this, but both of you being Platinum could help. I realize the timing is not great, but it might be best to ask as soon as possible. If the PSL comes back with a negative, I would suggest opening a case with customer service. They have made some exceptional gestures in the past, in my experience, and this if any situation calls for it, then it is something like this. Insist a couple of times and point out how good a customer you are, and that you're not asking them to refund the money but rather just for vouchers.

Also, what type of airfare did you buy? Is it a standard or light fare? If it is standard, maybe you can just push it out to the future for no additional cost. Sometimes it leads to cheaper fares that can give you a voucher too.
