If I book via Iberia, I would need a flexible ticket to get a refund. Without it I can change dates if I get a Optimal fare.
If booked via British Airways, Non-refundable tickets If the fare rules state that the fare is non-refundable, only the taxes can be refunded under tax refund. So basically my best plan is either American or Iberia (flexible).

So my use case is a flight for Premium Economy roundtrip DEN - LHR.

Via American, I can book a nonrefundable ticket for $1,993. I can book a refundable ticket for $2,193. Not much delta here so will probably do refundable.
Via Iberia, a flexible PE ticket is $2,202.70
Via British Airways, a flexible ticket is $3,383. Why would I ever do this??!?!

Also with these all going to fare based as opposed to distance based for loyality points, there is no advantage to book one vs the other for better loyalty points.
I always book the AA codeshares and would in this situation, assuming you are US based. If you should cancel, you have a 001 ticket for any future AA flight/ codeshare. The miles earning will also be the same as AA metal.
