There are plenty of ways to get more than 1 cent per MR point, though. Someone with a DL Amex, as the OP does, for instance can fairly easily get 1.3 cents per SkyMile by transferring to DL which gets back to 4.5% return on CSR vs. 6.5% return on AX Plat. The travel insurance is still a consideration, though.
