Widebody domestic first (business) is the best value out there, especially on planes with best hard products. Generally newer planes like A350s and 787s will have 1-2-1 seating, but be sure to check detailed seat maps before buying and be aware equipment swaps are common
Thank you- will try my best to get on wide body planes but will manage my own expectations in case the aircraft model gets swapped in the last moment. Any advice on which of the many airlines are better/worse than others?
From what I can gather so far, Hainan seems to have a lot of fans and apparently has decent lounges (though we saw one of their long haul aircraft at the gate in Sydney the other day and it looked not like being in its best ever state- especially compared to rather flashy looking China Southern and Air China aircraft opposite from it). China Southern and Air China seem to rank in the “Okay” range and for some reason, China Eastern gets a rather bad rep. Not sure what to make of Sichuan Airlines and Shanghai Airlines.
But I might be totally wrong so greatly appreciate comments/ opinions from personal experience.
