For those wanting to stay closer to the city I recently stayed in the Ibis Styles Tokyo Ginza (the one near Shimbashi station - not to be confused with the Ginza East property)

The room was a reasonable size - considering it is Tokyo…and the the bathroom was bigger than some I’ve had in Japan. The shower pressure was excellent.

It was a bit annoying that every time I entered the room the TV came on.

As Platinum I was allowed to check-in early, was given a complementary welcome drink at reception (as I’ve found common in Ibis’ Japanese properties) - I opted for a can of beer. I was also given complementary breakfast at the Thai restaurant in the lobby. Every morning you got a choice of Green Thai Chicken Curry, Thai Pork and Chicken Noodles, Thai Porridge or an American Breakfast (which didn’t look like any American breakfast I’ve ever had). The Green Thai Chicken Curry was nice though. I wouldn’t recommend paying more for a room with breakfast included though.

Cleaning was efficient and the reception staff were friendly. WiFi speeds were good - although it didn’t do anything other than browsing.

Amenities were available in the lobby - there were 4 different types of tea to choose from as well as coffee, body lotions, toiletries…etc.

There a 3 Family Marts within a 3 minute walk and Shimbashi Station is a 5 minute walk away. You can also get the Keikyu line direct to Haneda Airport (around 25 minutes) as well as Narita.

I was quite happy with the stay and would stay there again.

It’s a shame Accor no longer have a property in Shinjuku.
