Flew BKK-HKG on TG yesterday and the flight departed from S111A so I finally had a chance to check out the new satellite terminal. There is something inefficient about the automated people mover—the "security check" to make sure there are no incoming pax remaining on the train before it opens to security-cleared departing pax takes a bit long and I think affects headway. The ride also seemed a bit bumpier than I am used to for other airports' APMs and the track surprisingly not straight... maybe they had to avoid something underground?
The lack of a TG lounge is definitely annoying and since it looks like there are no immediate signs of a TG lounge appearing in the near-ish future (unlike QR and EK) it is honestly beyond my why TG would have flights depart from there. It makes sense to use it as an LCC wing for the time being. If anything it is a massive enhancement for the experience of flying FD/XJ/VZ.
OTOH the Miracle Lounge (available for PP access as with all Miracle Lounges at BKK) is perfectly adequate in terms of food and beverages. The atmosphere is rather pleasant given the satellite still only having very few departures.
King Power of course will not give up an opportunity to make money so there is already a sizable duty free selection at the satellite. I did not browse carefully enough to be able to tell you if there are any perfumes or skincare that you can only get in the main terminal, though.
