I have Delta eCredit left over from COVID times that I need to use by year end. I am looking at booking a ticket to an international destination from the USA that now seems to have an option for basic economy ticket, which they did not earlier (aka they have increased the prices for same benefits I got for free earlier.) The itinerary will have small positioning flights on Delta within US and then the international segments (with a halt in Europe on either KL, AF, or VA)

1. Even though its a Basic Economy ticket on DL, will I be able to select seats for free on the partner airlines once I get the PNR for them? I ask this because if I try to book the same itinerary on one of the partner airlines (KL) website for the same price, they allow me to choose seats on DL flights for free but charge me for seats on their own flights.
2. DL says I won't any earn mileage on Basic economy ticket, but is that true for the international segment on the partner airlines as well? I am guessing so since DL will handle the ticket. This is one difference from booking with the partner airlines that allow you to accrue mileage.
