I’m wondering if anyone has had any FNA booking issues recently. I ran into a problem where FNA was booked online but it was not used, points were deducted instead. I saw in this forum others had the same problem in the past but have not seen anyone posting about it recently.
I have reached out to customer service and am nearly a month into this with multiple denials to charge my FNA and return my points. Granted, it’s my word vs theirs since I trusted the booking system and did not take screenshots, but they claim that I booked only with points. I might buy this if I was new to Marriott, but I’ve been an elite member for 9 years and am not new to booking properly online.
Then they tell me that the property (Ritz Carlton) does not accept FNAs so they will not be returning my points and using the FNA. Which I find hard to believe either since my 85K FNA was issued by the RC credit card. I booked a 2 night stay with the FNA covering 1 night (~82K pts) and my points covering the 2nd night (~71K pts), as per the breakdown of charges when I booked. After the stay I find out the FNA was not used and 153K pts were deducted. All I want is the FNA used and 82K pts returned. At this point I don’t trust the booking system, seems like there are unknown “gotcha’s” with using FNA’s, and I’m inclined to pull all the Marriott co-branded credit cards from my family and business since there is no point in having them if it is so difficult to use the FNA’s.
Am I missing something here (other than my points)? Any tips on how to navigate this? I appreciate all the insights and tips this site has provided. Happy holidays and travel safe!
Do you have the original confirmation email that shows a free night award used?
