I’ve seen quite a lot of discussion around the ORD to JNB connection time (about 7.5 hrs). Curious if folks think this is enough time to leave the airport and do anything meaningful/interesting?

Wife and I are on this routing (ET 575, ET 849) to kick-off our honeymoon and trying to use the layover best. Understanding it would all be at our own cost because it’s under the 8hr threshold.

We’ve thought about the in-terminal hotel - can you just show-up and make a reservation on the spot for this?
