The baggage allowance applies to everyone in the same reservation. In the confirmation email from AA, there is a section that says how much the 1st/2nd checked bags will cost ($0 in your case). Why AA doesn’t show this information online when viewing the details of a trip is beyond me.

Instead, it’s only in the confirmation email.

Also, if you book AA codeshares on JL or BA, the Oneworld Status at booking is what is applied when you fly. So before your status expires, make a bunch of future bookings that are codeshares and you can stretch your status well into the following year.
