First of all, I haven't contacted the hotel as I don't want to... Don't even know what. Maybe I just hope that they won't notice it if I don't pay their attention to it.
Nevertheless, the story.
I booked a stay from 26th December 2023 till 29th December 2023 in The Venetian Macao on the IHGs website (it's an InterContinental Alliance resort). I booked a package that is called "Stay more, save more", which is cancelable in 2 days in advance.
After some time, I found out that the price for my stay went down. I double checked the cancellation rules, which clearly stated "Canceling your reservation before 6:00 PM (local hotel time) on Sunday, 24 December, 2023 will result in no charge."
I cancelled my reservation and booked a new one. And then again. And again. And again.
In total, I've made 4 reservations and cancelled 3 of them, each right after I made a new one.
And, as it always happens with the fine prints, only after making the last reservation, I noticed some kind of rules or TOC in this rate, which you can see on the screenshot. This made me rather nervous, because I realized that I might be screwed and forced to pay a pretty penny, i.e. 4 times for a single reservation.
Then, I realized that the longer dates (24-29Dec) are in 2024, and sighed in relief. But then I read a little bit to the left, which also states "22-26Dec2023", and, as I've already stated, my dates are from 26 till 29th Dec '23.
That, of course, made me nervous again, because there is some kind of overlap. The blackout for paid cancellation ends right when my stay begins. But I think/hope that it doesn't matter for the stays which BEGIN on that date. I can't otherwise understand why I was able to cancel all three reservations without any penalty. My card also hasn't been charged.
I've also contacted IHG support via online chat. I sent them my previous reservation numbers and was told that there will be no charge as I had cancelled the reservations before the cutout date.
They couldn't send the chat transcript for evidence purposes, but they've sent me an email confirming that my stays were cancelled without any fees, which is even better, I think. I've also attached the screenshot of that email.
So... Should I sleep calmly, because all the evidence is on my side, or should I be prepared for something bad for my wallet and the battles with the hotel?
