During the purchase process, you should see a place where it lists travel credits, with a link that says "Search for more credits." That's where you should enter your PIN and last name. Is that where you're saying that the system just freezes? Edit: looks like yes:

If the expiration date on your printout shows 12/31/23, there's no reason they should be expired. Figure out the flights you want, call, and tell the agent you're having trouble redeeming the certificates online and ask if they can book them directly.
