Marriott told me they have NO IT Dept., last time I had this same issue. I didn't change phone or email, only put in a new CC number when making a booking and selected to save it as a new default.
This was exactly what I did. I merely updated my CC's expiration date on the reservation page and checked the box to save it as default. Worse, before I was locked out, I went to the payment page and the expiration had not been updated. I had to re-update it on the payment page.
