Just spent 4 nights here. Overall great stay, with a few snags. Needed a twin room, which only come as base rooms. Got high floor palace view twin as requested. Breathtaking view. Issue with a hole in the balcony door, making horrible noise in the wind. They wouldn't fix it, so offered to move. Given choice and a tour of equivalent twin room, deluxe king same view, or suite. Suite was huge, but on the other side with "construction" view. Opted for the deluxe king with rollaway with palace view, because it was the quietest and the view truly makes the stay here. Rollaway bed was comfortable and actually softer than the regular bed.

Breakfast is at the main restaurant 6:30-11am. Excellent choice and quality, the highlight was fresh croissants with Nutella or pistachio cream filling apparatus.

The Grand Club occupies a huge restaurant space on P2 floor with an outdoor patio. All day service 11am-11pm with tea, coffee, soft drinks, fruit, luxurious dates, and some basic cookies. Afternoon tea 3-5pm adds fantastic scones, jam, clotted cream and light sandwiches. Dinner happy hour 6-8pm with a small full buffet and alcohol served by the friendly staff, who will remind you with a last call at 8. Yes, there is sushi, but only 1 out of 4 evenings it was real fish sushi, other days canned tuna style.

There is frequent bus service around the hotel to the palace, marina mall, downtown, even the grand mosque. Google maps work well, but you do need to figure out the city's Hafilat card in advance, which was a pita (machines at central bus station did not take cards and ran out of change).

There is also a new fully stocked grocery store right in the neighboring building complex.
