This should not be the case - pre-Covid times I used to fly CI quite often in both PE and E - and always, I am approached by someone or other to greet me as an ST E+ (hold status with FB).
They would indeed tell me the flight time and at times even come ask me for my choice of meal first before the meal service starts.

I believe this is quite common on quite some alliance airlines in Asia as CX does this often too. I remembered once flying with Shanghai Airlines and also as an E+ - i managed to snag the PE seat complimentary and was greeted by the FA.

From all my observation, there are no difference if you are Asian or non-asian.
