This place ain't what it used to be, and the rates reflect it. Ignoring the renovations and overall physical plant for a moment, the people aren't what they used to be, and neither is the soft product. The lounge has regressed to just average offerings, and to add insult to injury, they now request your room number upon entry. (I'm used to seeing that at other places, but not sure why they do it here where you need a key to get up the elevator and again to get in the lounge.) In my limited interactions with the staff (all staff, not just lounge attendants,) they have gone from 'attentive full-service' to 'robotic and probably couldn't cut it at an FFI.' Granted, due to the lack of facilities, I didn't have the opportunity to interact as often as I ordinarily would, so perhaps I just drew a short straw on a small sample size.

On to the renovations and physical plant... I don't know what they're doing, but am a bit baffled that they removed all F&B options at once. The only open F&B outlet is a repurposed meeting room for a restaurant, and the bar is a cloth-covered card table setup in the space leading up to it. It looked so janky, I didn't even bother checking it out further. (I used to enjoy the lobby bar, so I hope that space remains, however renovated it will be.) It will be curious to see if they renovate the rooms. I was assigned a west-facing 'mountain view' room, and it was in fine shape. I don't know that it needs renovation, but it did need a new mattress. It wouldn't surprise me if that mattress is ~10 years old, dating back to the last renovation.
