We have approx 3 hours connecting times in Dubai and Doha, which looking at the punctuality, am fine with that amount of time.

My connection is in relation to Duty free purchases - or more specifically, alcohol. Having been caught out in Atlanta because we clear customs on arrival, so effectively enter the US and leave on a domestic and exposed to non cleared passengers, our liquids were confiscated.

Our connecting flights are with the same airline, but unsure what the situation is with Transit in Dubai and Doha. I can remember in the 80s having a transit in Abu Dhabi, which would have been fine, but things are obviously completely different now.

Obviously, I'm simply looking to purchase some wine to take with us to Bali in LHR on our way out.... just dont want to fall foul of what happened to us in Atlanta. I know I could just buy in Dubai, but (a) suspect it will be more expensive and (b) might not have enough time. Not sure if we'd be doing the same in Doha, but asking just in case.

Any assistance appreciated.
You can buy wine at LHR duty free and you must tell them that DXB is not your final destination when they scan your boarding pass, then they will put your booze into a plastic/ security sealed bag (which you won't tamper with of course) with your receipt inside and you will be fine in DXB at transfer security. It will be simply screened with your other carry ons and that's it.

You have plenty of time to do some additional shopping at DXB, I remember the cheapest bottles of wine start around the GBP 15-17 mark.

Why don't you buy a few bottles in your local Waitrose/ Tesco etc. and put them in your checked luggage...

Generally a good idea to bring wine to Bali, I find wine there very expensive (Bintang is cheap though).
