One wonders what is in their minds. They buy a low cost airline then start to buy a bunch of single aisle planes for the quality airline. Do they want to turn Cathay into a competitor of Cebu Pacific and Scoot? They need a new business class seat and, knowing full well that they have a good one, select a less comfortable one saying that regional passengers can put up with the discomfort for two or three or four or five hours so that they can cram a few more seats in. Then they decide that they must be a high quality operator offering a lifestyle to which one should aspire. I don't know what they are smoking. Our only hope is that they continue the previous policy of intentional misuse of aircraft, putting long haul planes on select regional services, probably those with heavy J traffic, scheduling these well in advance and not switching from day to day as loads vary.
