I do have an Amex Plat so could also visit the Centurion Lounge in Terminal D, if that terminal is close to the terminal where the CHS flight normally departs?

Anything else I need to consider or avoid?
Nothing to worry about, a pretty straightforward connection, 2:15 should be plenty of time even with checked bags and no GE.

After you clear immigration and customs in D go back through security there, then you take the SkyLink to whatever terminal your CHS flight departs from.

As noted via your status you can only guest 1 into the lounges, however with a 2 yr old the AA agents may be friendly/sympathetic and let you all in. YMMV if you want to give it a shot. The Flagship Lounge is the nicest and located in D, and there are AC's in every terminal AA operates from.

And the Centurion Lounge is of course an option and also located in D, however it will cost you $80 for the 2 guests (unless you've spent $75k on your PLT card).
