There is really no reason to select EQNs early to requalify, and plenty of risk that things could change that could make you regret your choice in hindsight. Wait until January 2nd and make the selection then once you know exactly how many EQNs you earned in 2023. Really only worth picking EQNs if you end at 70-74 nights (or 95-99 nights with enough spend for ambassador).
There is one wrinkle to this ... if you are using EQNs to hit 75 nights and want to choose the FNC as your 75-night choice, it's probably worth making the EQN selection ~now because waiting until the last minute doesn't guarantee Marriott's systems will update in time to send you the email to make your 75 night choice before the deadline (in which case you default into SNAs). But yes I generally agree with the principle that there's no reason to select EQNs until at least December.
