Unless, you have difficulty managing your spending, I see no reason to ever use a debit card when traveling.
That is certainly true if it is a debit card that charges directly to one’s current account. A prepaid debit card, like Revolut, is the safest way to travel. One can charge the Revolut card instantly with one’s own credit card (usually no points earned, though). It also has a very comprehensive travel insurance protection and a modest cashback program. It may be easily managed from the app and offers the best safeguards against scammers that I’ve seen in the market.
