You have to be joking. With IPads, laptops, phones, chargers and cables, toiletries, headphones, make-up, airport purchases (not guilty), a change of shoes, a kindle, clothes for a week, razors in my husbands case, and yes my hairbrush; does this sound like 12kg to you?

I can quite capable of putting these in the overhead locker myself but I let my husband do so as men should be either functional or decorative (he’s both to me).

OP. I can assure you that IB couldn’t care less in Europe. I’ve never seen a scales at the gate. BA are generous in this. That said I’ve not flown Economy in years and am not going to start now, so maybe it’s different back there.
