The policy for Giant MD for quite some time has been to log the transaction if it is over $2000. They record your DL info and ask why you are making the purchase. Gas points is always an acceptable response. The new twist is that there is a column that requires your SSN if you are paying cash. A couple of times I have been asked for SSN and pointed out I was paying credit, so SSN not required, but there is one store that insisted upon it anyways. The column is clearly labeled cash.

In terms of the supposed $2000 limit, although it is stated in the ads for Giant MD as of six months, or whenever ago, in my experience, it has never been enforced for purchase. Only enforced if you try to get manual points added after the fact. I highly doubt that any of the cashiers are even aware that there is supposedly a $2000 limit. And an alternative reading of the language could mean that the $2000 limit only applies to reward points and not the actual purchase amount. As far as pretty much every cashier/CSR is concerned the purchase limit is $5000.
