It's been super challenging for me to find an award ticket from US->Japan/Asia-> US. I ended up just going with Air Canada and booked my flight from LAX -> Singapore -> BKK.

But now, I'm needing a return ticket, and all I got is ANA points that are locked up in their system! I've heard it is easier for those in Japan to book their round trip ticket due to the time change and the way flights are scheduled.

Does anyone have experience with this? I don't mind booking booking a round trip from Asia -> US -> Asia because I visit a couple times a year.

Can anyone help me walk through this?
