Thanks for your replies. I have booked full points redemptions before and they always take the points right away. It seems a bit strange they don't take the cash portion of a points and money redemption at the same time they take the points. Just trying to get my head around the timeline.

I am probably going to cancel the Surpass anyways, I hate these $50 per quarter, too hard to use for leisure travellers. If it was $200 to use when you want it would be doable. Much preferred Priority Pass!
