Go try to stay in Hawaii for Christmas/New Years and tell me how you feel about the prices being off-peak. I'm seeing the HR Maui at north of $1100/night (with is ridiculous for that hotel, as much as I like it)
And your certs are good through the spring, which includes spring break, which is high travel season for many places.
I assure you that the entire 6 month span from January to June is not off-peak everywhere in the US.
