Connecting flights and duty free in Dubai and Doha

I have a trip from the UK to Asia early next year, travelling out from LHR > DXB > DPS with Emirates, then back with Qatar from BKK > DOH > LHR

We have approx 3 hours connecting times in Dubai and Doha, which looking at the punctuality, am fine with that amount of time.

My connection is in relation to Duty free purchases - or more specifically, alcohol. Having been caught out in Atlanta because we clear customs on arrival, so effectively enter the US and leave on a domestic and exposed to non cleared passengers, our liquids were confiscated.

Our connecting flights are with the same airline, but unsure what the situation is with Transit in Dubai and Doha. I can remember in the 80s having a transit in Abu Dhabi, which would have been fine, but things are obviously completely different now.

Obviously, I'm simply looking to purchase some wine to take with us to Bali in LHR on our way out.... just dont want to fall foul of what happened to us in Atlanta. I know I could just buy in Dubai, but (a) suspect it will be more expensive and (b) might not have enough time. Not sure if we'd be doing the same in Doha, but asking just in case.

Any assistance appreciated.
