Exclamation Credit card surcharges, here to stay?

People are compiling venue surcharges for various cities: Chicago | Los Angeles.
When I encounter one of them, I recalibrate my tip.
What irks me about the surcharge is when the venue claims it is for employees' health care - but an employee lets on that he | she is not assigned enough work hours to qualify for the health care.
