ok, so I don’t know what you did to try to. change the auto-renewal or cancel, but here are the steps I just went through:
click on the … menu, and it will have the option to turn off auto renewal. You get this popup. Confirm with the red button. You should get this confirmation
The auto renewal date at the top of the screen doesn’t seem to automatically refresh, but if you go back into the Account Services page, it confirms that there is no longer an auto renewal.
I didn't bother with the shopping portals for years. Enjoyed great luck with the fruit of the month club as holiday gifts and magazines for Delta miles. The process seemed to work better a decade ago. I have little faith the miles will post today.
It’s interesting - I didn’t really bother with portals for years either because I had the impression that they were all run by a scam organization (Cartera) and that virtually every purchase required fighting. Then along came Rakuten, and I gave them a try and it seemed to work well, and the one tracking issue I had was resolved quickly and to my satisfaction. Only recently have I started using the AA portal, and it’s been amazingly smooth. Virtually everything store (except for the recent gc.com blip) tracked and paid out quickly, sometimes even when I wasn’t expecting it (e.g., had a coupon that was worth more than the miles). And even when the GC.com problems occurred, Cartera’s customer service was responsive and efficient.
