It has been a while now since I checked but IATA don't expect this to be in place until 2024. Just curios of it works in the US.
No, they all do check your physical passport at the gate itself. However, the mobile boarding pass
allows you to get through security without first having to go to the ticket counter to have it checked there - and those counters are often backed up especially the first flight out of the day.
