I recently had to stay at the indigo hotel in downtown El Paso, Texas. We were checking out on a Sunday. I asked for a late check out and they told me it was unavailable because they were fully booked the night before. The thing is they were not even close to fully booked the day I was checking out and so in my mind, the number of new guests checking in is what should determine the number of hotel rooms they have available and cleaned. I tried to raise this with the desk clerk, and he told me “no, it is based on the occupancy the night before.“ Somehow this does not make sense to me. Am I missing something? Those with more hotel experience, or those in the hotel industry, please educate me.
