Currently I am GM with 236 MQM and I need 1200 MQD to get to PM. After subtracting for GM next year, I'll have 186K MQM. I typically travel 2-3 times to CPT per year via Europe on DL (sometimes AF/VS) and then KLM/AF/VS to CPT and 1-2 times to Europe on DL from SEA.
Since you don't get to continually roll over your "extra" status is it worth trying for 1200 MQD by the end of this year for two years of platinum (2024 and 2025) plus some SM as I'm certainly NOT going to spend the needed MQD to get platinum or is there some other better way to make use of these MQM to get the most out of them I can.
I'm not a big credit card spender other than my plane tickets so I'm likely only ever going to qualify for very lowly silver after 2025.
You seem to be missing the MQM to MQD conversion option. You can convert 150K of your rollover MQMs to 15K MQDs next year for Platinum status through 2025 (until Jan 2026). Less if you have a DL Plat/Reserve Amex card due to 2500 MQD initial boost. Getting Plat this year will get you a 2024 Choice Benefit and you'll be able to convert some more MQMs to miles (after using 100K MQM to extend Plat status through 2025), but it's probably not worth spending over $1200 to get those.
