Huh. Fwiw this is the complete opposite of my own experience with Rakuten. Moreover the couple of times something didn't credit the way I was expecting, customer service has been quick to credit the points anyway even when it was me (or in one case- the friend to whom I had made a referral) was in error. Overall a much more customer-forward experience than any other shopping portal I've used, eg AA Shopping. I guess YMMV.
I've got several charges right now with a message saying that the merchant "didn't provide cash back for this purchase." This after I got all the positive messages about rebates. Lowes, Walmart, and Kohl's currently (and I've successfully gotten many rebates from Koh's and Walmart before.)
