I think you may be right here, the batteries I had to remove were the snap on type for lego sets. Thankfully they did allow me to remove the rather large lego sets and take them as carry on, and I am grateful for that.
I'm flying MNL-PVG-LHR on MU in about 2 weeks time - I never experienced an int'l transit via PVG before (always started on "the other side") - is it the same there? Any hints for the rusty China transitory PAX?
