Nope... because if you are in Explorer, you haven't earned any status. Hence at the end of the qualifying period, you can't be downgraded and your XP simply get reset with no rollover.

"Explorer" is the complete absence of status. It does not have to be "earned". If you finish the year as Explorer, then all of your XPs are removed. You failed to reach the lowest target - 100XP for Silver.
Thank you so much for this explanation. Now it's much clearer. I wished it was this clear also on FB website: I would have chosen a KLM for some of my flights earlier this the year... 🤷♂️
