That’s not a small deal. And again, those are just a few examples.

I think part of what’s alarming for people (as you alluded to) is that this is coming as a series of (maybe related) changes. For the business person flying LAX-DEN or BOS-ORD, possibly with a tight connection on, it’s now “no meal for you, no more work for you - get that computer put away as we start descent, go retrieve your own jacket buster, we’re not here to pass them out…”

You can call it pearl clutching or any other personal insult all you like. But at the end of the day, as I said above, it’s not personal it’s just business. United has every right to do whatever it wants when it comes to serving or not serving meals, telling their flight crew when to prepare the cabin, and so on. And each of us has every right to decide where and how to spend or to not spend our money, and to tell a business what will get our dollars and what won’t. I think that’s all that’s happening here.

If United implements these changes profitably (long term), then hey good for them. Good business move. If this leads to long-term loss of good will and revenue with more F seats going out as free CPU’s, then oh well. Bad business move. Is what it is.
looks like I’ll need to buy some zip loc bags to load up in the United Club!
