Clearly there’s always the club or other airport options but it’s a matter of convenience. At the end of the day, the domestic first product will have lost a chunk of value in my honest opinion. I’ve never really paid attention to the particulars, but I remember….what doesn’t seem like too long ago, obviously, pre-Covid, where some flights were labeled as a “snack” flight, which was still a warm meal, just minus the nuts, if I remember right. Going back even further, pmUA, I remember one time having breakfast on an SLC to DEN flight, however, that was a total one off I’m sure for an hour flight. I also vaguely remember times of cinnamon rolls or other various snacks on flights.
Indeed.

Now the [trays] are dead and bare
No joie de vivre anywhere
Et maintenant, we drink a bitter wine

Those [tulip] days
We used to know
Where have they gone?
Where did they go?
Eh bien, raise your berets
To those [tulip] days
